One Way System formed in 1979 in Fleetwood, In the North West of England. Their first release was the Stab
the Judge EP, which was released just after a demo of Jerusalem was included on No Future
Records' A Country Fit For Heroes compilation in 1981.
It had taken some time for the line up to settle down as Gavin Whyte on vocals, Dave Ross
guitar, Gaz Buckley bass and Tom Couch on drums. In 1982 they were signed by Anagram records
and put out their classic Give Us A Future EP. Soon after that they released their first LP, All
Systems Go.
The System played a 32 date tour of Germany in support of their second LP, Writing On the Wall. This
album was noticably different from the first LP, but it maintained their distinctly gritty sound.
The band broke up after their 1984 American shows. Their were only a few of these because the scheduled West
Coast tour was cancelled after the Circle Jerks' singer broke his neck.
One Way System reformed in 1995, and before long they released Live In Breznhev, a 10" recorded live
in France on their reunion tour. The record featured several old classics, like Stab the Judge and
Jackie Was A Junkie. They should soon be releasing their first new material in 13 years.
